The Quarrymen give a helping hand to the Meeting of Minds

On 30th April 2025 the Borders Quarrymen’s Chairman, Bro Peter Farquhar, met with the Meeting of Minds representatives at Lodge Kelso & Tweed to present a cheque for £500 to this derseving charity.

Meeting of Minds is a parent-led charity based in the Scottish Borders, dedicated to supporting families raising children with additional or complex needs. Established in 2015 by a group of mothers seeking local support, it gained charitable status in 2016.

Meeting of Minds offers a range of resources, including visual guides and information on disability living allowances, to assist over 100 families in their daily lives.

The charity is supported by a dedicated committee of volunteers, many of whom are parents of children with additional needs, ensuring that the organisation’s efforts are deeply rooted in personal experience and understanding.

In 2023, Annabel, The Duchess of Roxburghe, became the patron of Meeting of Minds, bringing further recognition to the charity’s work.

The Borders Quarrymen are a group within the Provincial Grand Lodge of the Scottish Borders, comprising younger and newer Freemasons in the region. Established to foster engagement among recent members, the group serves as a platform for social connection, mentorship, and active participation in Masonic life.

Their activities include meetings, charitable initiatives, and events aimed at strengthening fraternal bonds and supporting the wider community. The group is led by Provincial Grand Master A.E. Forsyth, who serves as its enthusiastic president.
